Booking Terms & Conditions
Once a date has been agreed between you and Emmaus Adventure, our booking procedure is in one or two stages:
1. To confirm your booking you are require to pay the full amount prior to the beginning of your activity with us.
- To confirm your booking you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total price of the activity.
- We will send you a final invoice for the balance due, which must be paid 2 months prior to the beginning of your activity with us. If we do not receive final payment by this time, Emmaus Adventure will have the discretion to treat the booking as cancelled, and full cancellation fees will apply.
If you are booking as a group and the numbers in your group increase, we will do our very best to accommodate this. If numbers decrease, your original booking will stand.
Any cancellation you wish to make must be notified in writing by the person who made the booking. If you cancel your booking:
- More than 56 days prior to the start of your expedition, you will only be charged your deposit
- Between 56 and 31 days, you will be charged 50% of the expedition cost.
- 30 days or less before the start of your holiday, or on or after the commencement of the holiday, you must pay the full holiday price.
We appreciate that wholly unforeseen events may result in cancellation. We therefore strongly advise you take out travel and holiday cancellation insurance to protect yourself from losing money if you have to cancel.
Changes or Cancellations by us
Before you enter into a booking with us, we reserve the right to change any of the holidays, expeditions or skills courses, services or prices described on any of our produced content. We also reserve the right to cancel the product. You will be offered either a full refund, or a similar product on different dates.
For holidays, expeditions or skills courses advertised with dates on our website (that are not private bookings) there is a minimum number of participants required for the booking to go ahead. If this minimum number is not reached within 31 days of the start booked event Emmaus Adventure will contact you to let you know if the holiday, expedition or skills course has to be cancelled. In the event Emmaus Adventure cancels the holiday, expedition or skills course you will be offered a full refund, or a similar activity on different dates.
The Scottish weather can be both unpredictable and severe at any time of year. If your expedition is adversely affected by the conditions we will always attempt to provide a worthwhile and meaningful alternative activity. If, in extreme cases, we have to cancel your holiday, expedition or skills course, then you will be offered either a full refund, or a similar activity on different dates.
Emmaus Adventure is covered by public liability insurance.
We recommend that clients consider taking out appropriate insurance to safeguard against risks such as theft, accident, the cost of cancelling a holiday. A travel insurance policy protects you and your expedition arrangements from the unexpected before and during your trip. It is your responsibility to make sure you have adequate cover and we are not able to offer advice on insurance. However, we recommend your policy should include cover for emergency medical costs, cancellation or curtailment of your trip, personal belongings/baggage and personal liability.
Emmaus Adventure cannot be held liable for loss or damage of personal property, unless it can be proven that it is due to our negligence.
Emmaus Adventure is fully licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA). The safety of the individual and group is always of primary concern. Emmaus Adventure has taken all reasonable steps to provide you with a level of care and assurances of safety appropriate to the nature of the activities on offer, however you should be aware that certain inherent risks remain which are integral to adventurous activities which cannot be eliminated without destroying their unique character and integrity.
We follow accepted good practice in the matter of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. Our policy on this is available on request. The Emmaus Adventure Director, David Walsh, is a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. All Emmaus Adventure staff members working with under 18’s are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
It is a fundamental booking condition that you accept the risks involved in visiting remote and mountainous regions. You must have a level of fitness required for your chosen trip and you are responsible for bringing the appropriate equipment.
In order to protect the well-being of all individuals concerned, it is your responsibility to inform Emmaus Adventure of any special dietary, medical and physical needs that you may have.
The activities stated itinerary is indicative only and not a guarantee that a particular route will be followed or place reached. You must acknowledge that delays and alterations and their results, such as inconvenience and discomfort, are possible where unforeseen circumstances arise.
If in the opinion of the Emmaus Adventure your health, conduct, behaviour, fitness or equipment may compromise the safety of a trip, or if it could negatively impact of other members of the group or public, we reserve the right to cancel or terminate your holiday.
You will be responsible for the cost of repairs to any damage to Emmaus Adventure equipment that you borrow or use during your expedition, outside of normal wear and tear.
Photography & Social Media
Photographs and videos may be taken by Emmaus Adventure during your experience for marketing purposes. These may be uploaded to our social media sites, our website and used for other marketing purposes. We retain the anonymity of our clients and never identify a group or person by their name. If you do not wish to appear in these photographs or videos please let Emmaus Adventure know in advance. We will also always ask permission before any photographs or filming is made at the time.
Emmaus Adventure will always try do everything in their power to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience. If any customer is dissatisfied with any part of the experience provided, we will try our utmost to find an agreeable solution.
