2021 Practice and Qualifying expedition package for 18 – 25 year olds partaking in Duke of Edinburgh Gold or DofE Direct award

  • Expedition by packraft, walking and wild camping
  • Package includes all specialist packrafting and camping equipment (not sleeping bags)
  • In line with Covid guidelines, participants will be issued single occupancy tents
  • Participants are required to provide their own food

Practice Expedition Region: Loch Lomond
Duration: Training and Practice expedition 2 nights, 3 days

Qualifying Expedition Region: Loch Lomond
Duration: Qualifying expedition 4 nights, 4 days

Dates for 2021: Practice 8th-10th July & Qualifier 23rd-26th July

Requires min 4 participants for trip to run

Practice Expedition Itinerary

DAY 1
  • Meet in Balloch, Loch Lomond, at 09:30
    • Accessible by train, bus or car drop off
  • Meet team, pack for expedition, safety brief and training journey
DAY 2

 

  • Practice expedition continues 
DAY 3
  • Finish training and practice expedition by 15:30 at Balloch, loch lomond, unpack, review and gather our memories
  • Departure by bus, train or car pick up.

Qualifying Expedition Itinerary

DAY 1
  • Meet in Fort William Train Station at 09:30
    • Accessible by train, bus or car drop off
  • Pack for expedition and safety brief
  • Start qualifying expedition
DAY 2
  • Continue qualifying expedition
DAY 3
  • Continue qualifying expedition
DAY 5
  • Finish qualifying expedition by 17:00, unpack, review and gather our memories
  • Qualifying expedition will either finish back at Fort William or particpants will be transfered back to Fort William from their finishing point
  • Departure by train, bus or car pick up

My Gold Duke of Edinburgh award group are very excited about the prospect of their walking and packrafting expedition which has been booked through Emmaus Adventure .

It represents the chance to undertake a totally new team challenge as they explore a wild area on land and water and promises to leave them all with lasting memories of a real adventure.

I know they will be in good hands with David and his team at Emmaus Adventure, who are very experienced at providing well supported and safe DofE expeditions whilst enabling groups to experience the spirit of exploring and self reliance that underpins this aspect of their award. 

David has worked with my DofE groups for many years as a chief instructor and DofE assessor. The arrangements by his team have always been tailored for our needs and every aspect of their expedition experience was always well thought out and professionally managed.
